Youth Program & Activities
The Himalayan Youth Outdoors Program is a state grant funded by the Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office (RCO). It is a part of the No Child Left Inside grant (20-2257). The objective of the program is to provide opportunities to children to explore the outdoors.

The benefits of getting kids outside
More outdoor time is linked with improved motor development.
Studies have found that children who spent more time in nature exploration had improved learning outcomes.
Increased focus and reduced symptoms of ADHD.
Research shows that when children spent time in natural settings they had more impulse control.
No Child Left Inside
The No Child Left Inside (NCLI) Act was reintroduced Thursday, April 7, 2022. The legislation was authored by Sen. Jack Reed (D-RI) and Rep. John Sarbanes (D-MD) to expand and strengthen hands-on, environmental and outdoor learning opportunities for elementary and secondary school students around the country.
Himalayan Youth Outdoors (HYO) Team engages in connecting every child and youth in our community with the nature and help in battling “nature deficit disorder.”
